Google Prepares to Press the Reset Button on the US Wireless Market

Not long after the release of Android, Google’s mobile OS platform (which borrows quite a bit from the iPhone), the internet behemoth readies to enter the wireless arena. Google plans on making a bid for a piece of the 700Mhz wireless spectrum :
“Google is focused mainly on bidding on what has been designated as the “C” block, a slice of the 700 megahertz spectrum. It is also considering other blocks of spectrum available as well, though they would provide only regional coverage or come with other limitations. Google has hired game-theory specialists to help plot its auction strategy, say people familiar with the matter,” Delaney and Sharma of The Wall Street Journal report.
This is not anything new as it’s been circulating the blogosphere for the past few months. But now it’s officially gaining steam.Rather than compete with Apple it seems like the two may be working on a concurrent strategy to finally breathe life into the US wireless market, which has stagnated and trailing leading markets such as Japan and Europe. I truly hope this happens and we cn rid ourselves of the dreaded Verizon / AT&T stranglehold of mediocrity.See the Wall Street Journal Article here!
